On November 3, 2023, Yunnan Minzu University celebrated the 30th anniversary of its Non-General Language Education series of events, coinciding with the 12th South Asian and Southeast Asian Cultural Festival at the Yuhua Campus. Deputy Secretary-General Ly Davuth from the Lancang-Mekong Law Enforcement Cooperation Center (LMLECC) led a delegation of center staff to attend the event and delivered a speech during the opening ceremony.

Yunnan Minzu University has been offering undergraduate programs in the Thai and Myanmar  languages since 1993. By 2016, the university had introduced undergraduate programs in 15 official languages from 14 countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia. Over the past three decades, the university has produced over 6,000 outstanding graduates who have gone on to work in various capacities in domestic universities, government agencies, border security, customs, news media, and enterprises. A significant number of alumni have also ventured into entrepreneurship abroad or assumed positions in Chinese institutions and companies, contributing significantly to the nation's foreign exchange and border stability efforts.

In his address, Deputy Secretary-General Ly Davuth emphasized that Yunnan Minzu University has achieved remarkable success in the field of non-general language education. The university has effectively met the demands for professionals of enterprises and other institutions, and actively integrated into the Belt and Road Initiative, thereby promoting comprehensive development in related fields. Language, as a bridge for promoting cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, has enhanced the driving force behind comprehensive regional law enforcement and security cooperation, and it has laid a solid foundation for regional economic development, peace, and stability. The LMLECC, as a regional international organization, has been carried out and developed to be the think tank knowledge and innovation hub for the Lancang-Mekong Region, attracting law enforcement officers from the region who possess diverse language capabilities.Additionally, the center provides support and conducts language training programs for law enforcement officers in the Lancang-Mekong region.

Recently, within the framework of strengthened strategic cooperation, the center has offered internship programs for students from Yunnan Minzu University. In the future, the two institutions will continue to carry out practical cooperation in the regions such as subject research, think-tank construction, and personnel exchanges.
