On May 28^th , a seminar on illicit precursor chemicals trafficking and smuggling was held in Kunming. Law enforcement officers from Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the representatives of the six countries introduced the situation, trends and countermeasures of drug trafficking in the country in recent years, and raised the risks and challenges of current law enforcement. Delegates expressed a heated discussion on the Joint Operation Initiative launched by the LMLECC to combat smuggling of precursor chemicals and expressed their willingness to conduct pragmatic international law enforcement cooperation within the region. 

Zheng Baigang, Secretary-General of LMLECC, pointed out in his concluding remarks that LMLECC is committed to providing support to member states and law enforcement agencies in the basin. It is hoped that all basin countries could use the information exchange network (LMIN platform) between LMLECC and member states to promote smoother and more efficient law enforcement cooperation; and called for enhancing anti-drug publicity and education, continuing to promote drug-related legislation, to prevent and combat drug-related crimes in full dimension. Deputy Secretary-Generals of LMLECC, Mr. Amphanh, Mr. Jiang Shui and Mr. Zaw San presented the seminar.
