At 11 am in the morning of February 29 , Chinese law enforcement boats 53101 and 53116 successfully returned and docked at the Guanlei Police Dock in Xishuangbanna，which means that five law enforcement boats and over 100 law enforcement team members from the respective law enforcement departments of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand have all completed their designated tasks and returned to their respective countries smoothly. It marks the successful conclusion of the 138th joint patrol and law enforcement operation on the Mekong River involving China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand.

The operation was launched on February 26, lasted 4 days and 3 nights, and covered a total distance of more than 600 kilometers. During the operation, the joint patrol law enforcement team carried out operations on key water areas of the Mekong River by combining segmented and full-line joint patrols, and simultaneously carried out joint public inspections on land along the coast, which effectively deterred various illegal and criminal activities in the basin.

In order to jointly respond to various security risks and challenges recently in the Mekong River Basin, relevant law enforcement agencies of China, Laos, Myanmar and Thailand held the commander-level joint meeting and information exchange meeting in Jinghong of China and Wan bang of Myanmar respectively, which aimed to jointly analyze the situation of recent cross-border crimes and put forward next-step measures to jointly combat cross-border crimes in the basin.

On February 27, the Myanmar Police held a launching ceremony for the barge at the dock owned by Water Police Sub-Bureau  in Wan bang of Myanmar. Leaders from all parties led delegations to attend the ceremony.

Two staff members of LMLECC participated in the entire joint patrol.
