On July 11, SG Zheng Baigang and his delegation visited the Safe Mekong” Operation Coordination Center of six countries, including China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, in Jinghong, capital of the Dai autonomous prefecture of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province.

During the visit, SG Zheng Baigang first visited the liaison officers stationed in the center of 6 countries and asked them about their work and life. Then he had an In-depth exchanges and discussions were held on the joint efforts of countries in the lancang-mekong river basin to combat drug trafficking with Liang Yun, Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau of Ministry of Public security, China , Zhao Zhongchen, assistant Director General of Yunnan Public Security, and Guo Youbin, Director General of Yunnan NCB .

SG Zheng says the LMLECC is an inter-governmental organization jointly established by countries in the Lancang-Mekong region. It is a multilateral exchange platform for law enforcement and security cooperation among member states. Since the establishment, LMLECC has been committed to the joint efforts to organize and coordinate combating all kinds of illegal and criminal activities. Organizing and coordinating to carry out joint patrols and Safe Mekong operation are also important task stated in the MOU provisions. LMLECC will fully support Safe Mekong operation.

DG Liang Yun thanks the SG Zheng Baigang and LMLECC for their support to the Safe Mekong operation and says the NCB of MPS will look into the next step of Safe Mekong coordinated by LMLECC, find a proper way to encourage active involving of each part and get more achievements.

SG Zheng and his delegation also took a boat trip to inspect the Lancang -Mekong river and visited the Chinese border police officers and soldiers on their maritime patrol missions.
